The Research :
The CDC estimates that, in 2021, the maternal mortality rate among Black women was nearly 70 deaths for every 100,000 live births. That is 2.6 times the rate for white women, regardless of income or education.
The Insight:
Sometimes grandmothers are the mothers that Black children never had.
The Project:
After her mother's sudden passing, Jessie, raised by her grandmother, sets out on a transformative journey to ensure her own daughter can embrace the same childhood joy she once cherished.
